Its 4-quadrant operation provides forward and\u003cbr\u003e\nreverse torque in both speed directions. This allows the\u003cbr\u003e\ncontrol to maintain constant speed with overhauling loads\u003cbr\u003e\nand provides rapid instant reversing and controlled braking.\u003cbr\u003e\nBecause of its excellent controllability and response time,\u003cbr\u003e\nthe KBRG-255 can replace servos in many applications.\u003cbr\u003e\nThe control is factory set for armature feedback, which\u003cbr\u003e\nprovides up to 1% load regulation over a motor base\u003cbr\u003e\nspeed of 50:1. However, tachometer feedback is also\u003cbr\u003e\navailable if superior regulation is required. By resetting\u003cbr\u003e\nmode jumper J7 to the “TRQ” position, the KBRG-255 can\u003cbr\u003e\nbe changed from a speed control to a torque control.\u003cbr\u003e\nThe drive contains a variety of “selectable” jumpers\u003cbr\u003e\nand adjustment trimpots to allow custom tailoring for exact\u003cbr\u003e\nrequirements. For example: jumper J6, when placed in the\u003cbr\u003e\n“TCL” position, provides adjustable timed current limit from\u003cbr\u003e\n1 to 15 seconds. This feature will protect the motor and\u003cbr\u003e\ncontrol by shutting the drive down after the preset time has\u003cbr\u003e\nelapsed.\u003cbr\u003e\nThe KBRG-255 can be operated with either a two (2)\u003cbr\u003e\nor three (3) wire start\/stop circuit, or can be started from\u003cbr\u003e\nthe AC line. A set of dedicated relay contacts are provided\u003cbr\u003e\nwhich are activated via the start\/stop circuit. They can be\u003cbr\u003e\nused to turn on or off corresponding equipment or to\u003cbr\u003e\nsound an alarm if the drive stops.\u003cbr\u003e\nAnother important feature is the array of the LED’s,\u003cbr\u003e\nwhich indicate the mode of operation the drive is in, and\u003cbr\u003e\nalso serve as a diagnostic tool. In addition, KB’s exclusive\u003cbr\u003e\nAuto Inhibit® circuit provides safe, smooth starting during\u003cbr\u003e\nrapid cycling of the AC line. The Overspeed Protect\u003cbr\u003e\nCircuit prevents failure of the power bridge in extreme\u003cbr\u003e\noverhauling conditions.\u003cbr\u003e\nReliability of the KBRG-255 is further enhanced with\u003cbr\u003e\nthe use of a high speed current limit circuit. MOV transient\u003cbr\u003e\nprotection is also included.
